But the names are not in any DOSM table — NVIDIA’s Singapore edition took them from real public registers — the personalities are a default bell curve, and the stories come from a model trained on the internet. Five questions the launch leaves open, starting with: did we answer the census for this?

A meme page used Meta AI to say AI only serves the wealthy. It works the other way round. In the general market, capital mostly paid for skills a founder lacked — three skilled hires cost about RM17,400 a month; first-draft versions now cost RM24. The cost that protected the gap is gone, and every signer now faces one choice: carry the risk, or stop signing.

An influence operation aimed at Malaysian voters used a thousand fake accounts and real census and electoral data. Everyone is debating the AI. The AI is the cheap part — and it is the only layer that kept a log. Tax planning was never priced on what is legal — it was priced on the chance of being looked at. AI took the cost of looking to nearly zero, so the audit stops being a lottery and becomes a search. And it runs backwards, over records that already exist. My father’s line: paying tax is a responsibility, and proof of capability.

A hawker-centre supplier in her forties wants to learn AI and is willing to pay. She has no laptop — and the machine I’d recommend just rose RM800 mid-cycle, because AI demand is repricing memory. The boom is quietly repricing the ladder into it. My preference is a Mac — my team runs one, and consistency is most of the support. But she decides the investment, and nothing in month one requires the machine.

Buy or rent is the wrong argument. A mortgage is thirty years of income you haven’t earned yet — sold in an economy that now issues certainty in three-year blocks. China’s film industry went 95% AI in three years. We’re extending our own runway to 24 months. The loan asks for 360.

The US banned advanced chips to China, so Chinese firms rented them instead — from data centres in Malaysia, Thailand and Japan. Washington is closing that route; Malaysia locked it from the inside a year earlier; Europe chose to pay its way out instead. Racks cannot move. Tenancy can — and sovereignty turns out to be a luxury good.
